Hi everybody!

The other day in our English lesson, we have been talking about customer service. I will give you some important tips how to deal with complaints.

·         Negotiations with customers should always be a win-win situation. Try to find a solution that both parties are satisfied.

·         When a customer is not satisfied, do not make the mistake of thinking that ‘attack is the best form of defence’.

·         Listen to your customer attentively and try to respond his expectations.

·         Always focus your full attention on your customer and give him an opportunity to make their point.

·         Don’t react immediately and without thought. Take time to respond. Sum up the main parts of your customers complaint and then give your own statements.

·         Avoid using phrases starting with “you” this can be interpreted as an attack.

·         Instead of saying “I’m sorry” choose expressions like “We very much regret the inconvenience caused be …” or “I can understand that you feel that …, but …”.

·         Only focus on the facts and not on feelings of anger or resentment.

If you obey this tips your customers always will be satisfied because they have the positive feeling that they have been taken seriously and that you are interested in their well-being.

Hi everybody!

The other day in our English lesson, we spoke about the world of advertising and talked about some different advertisements.

So we had to search for funny advertisement and describe it. I thought you might be interested, too because advertisements are everywhere (television, radio, Internet)

I found this funny ad.

This ad consists of a picture which shows a carrot cut in several pieces, the brand logo, a simple sentence and the product. It tries to convey the message that this new knife is very sharp. The producer of this ad decided to use only one expressive picture and two clear and simple sentences and uses mainly light colours. The ad tries to catch the attention with the help of the wooden plate which is also cut in several pieces.

local election 2015

Hi everybody!

I live in a small village in Austria and on the 27th September 2015 the local election took place.

I thought you might be interested about the result, because politics are a very important matter.

All in all there were 4156 people eligible to vote. 3451 people claimed their right to vote, so the participation is at 83,04 % and 189 votes are rejected.

This is the result:

The Austrian People’s Party won the election with 45,92%. One out of three voted for the social Democrat’s so the finished on the second place with 36,27 %, then the Freedom Party came in third with 9,10 %. On the fourth place are the Green Party, they got 6,81 % and a small minority voted for pro S, so the received 62 votes that means 1,90%.

Voting at 16 - my opinion

Hi everybody!

Dear Sir!

A few days ago I read your article in the „Voice of the UK“ which talks about your opinion voting at the age of 16.

Basically what it says is that Mr. Ross is against letting 16 year old’s vote. He think that this would be a huge mistake. Mr. Ross talked about his daughter, which is not truly interested in politics. Instead of informing of politic news his daughter is laying on the sofa and plays Xbox the whole day.

I agree with Mr. Ross about voting at 16. It would not be a good idea, because with such a young age many teenagers would not like to inform themself with politics. I am a 17-year-old teenager from Austria and for me it is really though to produce interest about politics.

political conference in Linz

Hi erverybody!

The other day my class and I went to a political conference in Linz.

I thought you might be interested, too because it was really interesting to listen to our politicians live.

Basically what it says is that at this conference many important votings were held and discussed.

For example:

·         If a ticket which you can use to move through Austria all time a year by bus train or another vehicle should introduced.

·         And that other countries in the EU should host more immigrants or at least the same number of immigrants like Austria hosts.

And in the end our class had the possibility to ask questions and discuss with some politicians.

It was a really interesting and informative excursion.

I hope we would do such excursions again in the near future.

United Kingdom general election of 2015

Hi everybody!

I have heard about the election of GB which was held on 7 May 2015. So I read an article in the online edition of BBC News which talks about the election of UK.

The official result is:

Basically what it says is that the Conservatives win the election with 36.9 % and receive 331 seats in the House of Commons, so a majority government will be formed. A party need to win one more than half to form a majority government. Then the second one is the Labour party with 30.4 %, the third one is the UK Independence Party with 12.6 %. The Liberal Democrats reached 7.9%, the Scottish National Party reached 4.7 and the Green Party of England and Wales 3.8%.

I will give you some information of the three main parties.

Conservative Party

The party was founded in 1834 and stands for free trade, private enterprise, individual liberty. David Cameron is the leader since 2005.

Labour Party

The Labour Party stands for social justice, strong community and strong values and reward for hard work. Since September 2010 Ed Miliband is the leader of the Labour Party.

UK Independence Party

The UK Independence Party was founded in 1993 with the primary objective of securing the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union. Nigel Farage is the Leader.

TTIP

Hi everybody!

I have just read an article in the online edition of the “The LOCAL” and it talks about a activists protest against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a free trade deal being negotiated between the US and EU countries.

I thought you might be interested, because “Our future is not for sale”!

The TTIP will create the world's largest regional free trade area. The agreement aims at removing trade barriers to transatlantic trade.

The official line is that TTIP will create jobs and increase economic growth.

At first view TTIP will be good for the people of the European Union for the reasons e.g.:

·           TTIP represents a opportunity to expand jobs.

·           TTIP will help to provide better public services.

·           TTIP would create new business opportunities for small and large companies.

I think the proposed free-trade agreement TTIP serves the interests of corporations and not of citizens!

In my opinion the agreement have many negative effects:

·           TTIP gives companies the right to sue governments if they think there was a loss of

        future profits.

·           The agreement will make it easier for companies to earn profits from the public water

        supply, health and education systems.

·           Practices that are legally allowed in the U.S. would legally be permitted in the EU (e.g.

       genetically-modified food).

·           Making fracking legal in Europe.

·           TTIP is practically irreversible.

At the moment the next round of negotiations are in New York.

Nowhere else in Europe is TTIP more hotly debated than in Austria.

A huge alliance of groups have come together to organise protests against the trade deal.
